D-FUR DOG GROOMING SERVICE was established in 2004 by Celia McGovern. From September 2007 the business operated from Celia’s home address in Watford, in a purpose built summerhouse. The business developed an excellent reputation in Watford and is trusted for its high standards of service, affordable prices and the quality and effectiveness of its treatments.

In February 2012, D-Fur Dog moved to Dorset (with Celia) and will now be found at Luccombe Business and Craft Centre, Milton Abbas, Blandford Forum, DT11 0BD.

Celia knows that your pet is an important member of your family and promises to make him/her feel safe and comfortable whilst in her care. She will only groom and style your pet if it does not cause stress or discomfort. She will not sacrifice your pet’s safety and comfort for vanity. She only uses positive actions, no harsh words or punishments and has a NO tolerance policy to rough handling.D-furdog

PUPPY PROGRAMME

The grooming of your puppy doesn’t have to be a fearful, stressful event in their young life.
D-Fur Dog’s Puppy Programme:
  • Takes into consideration the stage of emotional development, temperament, personality and breed

  • Is taught in a relaxed and gradual manner

  • Introduces equipment, positioning and commands in a safe step-by-step method

  • Will identify different problems the puppy may present and how to trouble shoot those problems

The programme consists of three sessions.

The first session must be conducted at 12-15 weeks of age. This is the age where the puppy’s personality is developing; they start to test their owners and their environment. A puppy at 12 weeks is still unsure of new situations but will have the courage to investigate. They accept you will not hurt them and are fairly easy to deal with.

The second session should be conducted at 16-20 weeks of age. Puppies at 16 weeks are in the beginning of puberty, rebellious and full of confidence. This age is the hardest to groom; the puppy will fight as they struggle with the choice of letting you groom him/her not. This stage requires patience, praise and a bit more discipline.

The final session should be undertaken at 20-24 weeks. Puppies at this age are more secure in their environment, are independent in thinking and make calculated decisions. They understand trust and the breaking of trust but are still learning limits. They are in the last stages of adolescence and there is less rebelling when learning something new. Learning becomes fun and builds confidence.

Each session includes cuddle time, play time and treats. You will need to leave your puppy with me for approximately 3 hours per session.

For low maintenance breeds, it is only necessary to introduce the programme over two sessions.
